Upon our arrival, we were graciously welcomed by the homeowner. She directed us to the guest bathroom, where the issue at hand was a persistent leak occurring at the base of the toilet when flushed. Upon visual inspection, we noted that the bowl lacked water, while the tank was fully filled. Interestingly, she mentioned that the toilet had not been in use for over a year.
After a thorough discussion regarding possible solutions, we meticulously laid protective cloths on the floor to safeguard the surrounding area. With care, we removed the toilet and discovered that the bowl seal had been improperly installed. We proceeded to clean both the mounting flange and the base of the toilet before fitting new mounting hardware and a fresh sani seal bowl seal. Ensuring a secure attachment to the floor, we reinstalled the toilet and conducted a test, only to uncover an additional leak at the tank.
Promptly informing the homeowner of our findings, we revisited our options. Ultimately, she opted to have a new toilet installed. We promptly disposed of the old unit off-site before installing a brand-new Toto comfort height elongated toilet, complete with a slow-closing toilet seat. Additionally, we fitted a new water supply tube for optimal performance. Rigorously testing the new installation multiple times, we ensured no further issues were present before meticulously cleaning all work areas and removing any debris or tools.
