Project Description
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the homeowner, who explained that he had recently bought the home two months ago and was concerned about a leaking hose bib on the east side. During our investigation, we discovered that he has an irrigation system on the west side and two hose bibs on the east and north sides of the house. We presented several solutions, and he chose Option 3A.
We set up tarps in the basement to protect the work area and made an opening in the wall. We discovered a large section of galvanized piping running through the wall, despite the isolation valve for the hose bib being made of copper. We shared our findings with the homeowner and suggested making a larger wall opening to replace the galvanized piping with copper. He agreed to the additional work.
We removed the section of galvanized piping and installed high-quality L copper, along with a frost-proof hose bib. We applied new hydro cement around the new hose bib. After securing all connections, we tested the system and found no issues. We also suggested a professional winterization service to ensure all water is out of the system due to the hose bib running between the brick and wall cavity. He decided to hold off on this additional service for now.
We cleaned up the work area, collected all necessary signatures, and thanked the homeowner for choosing Baethke Plumbing to perform the service today.
