Why Finding the Right Bath Remodeling Companies Near Me Can Transform Your Home

Bath remodeling companies near me are local contractors who handle everything from full bathroom gut-renovations to quick tub-and-shower upgrades – often completing work in just a few days.

Here are the most common services you can expect from a local bathroom remodeling company:

  • Full bathroom renovations – walls, floors, fixtures, plumbing, and electrical
  • Tub-to-shower conversions – replacing an old tub with a modern walk-in shower
  • Accessible remodels – grab bars, walk-in tubs, and slip-resistant flooring for safety
  • Fixture and vanity updates – toilets, sinks, cabinetry, and lighting
  • One-day remodels – fast overlay systems installed directly over existing surfaces

Whether you want a spa-like retreat or a safer bathroom for aging family members, a qualified local contractor can make it happen – without the months-long wait you might expect.

A bathroom remodel also does more than improve your daily routine. It adds real value to your home. According to the Better Business Bureau, a well-executed bathroom remodel can meaningfully boost your property’s resale value – making it one of the smartest investments a homeowner can make.

At Baethke Plumbing, we know the plumbing behind a bathroom remodel often makes the biggest difference in how well the finished space works. A great bath remodeling company near me experience should feel organized, clear, and worth the investment. In this guide, we will walk through what to look for and share five reasons why choosing the right local team can be one of the smartest decisions you make for your home.

Comprehensive Services Offered by Bath Remodeling Companies Near Me

When you start searching for bath remodeling companies near me, you’ll quickly realize that the best firms offer a “one-stop-shop” experience. In the past, you might have had to hire a tile guy, a plumber, an electrician, and a painter separately. In April 2026, the industry has shifted toward integrated service models that handle everything under one roof.

Full Renovations and Tub-to-Shower Conversions

A full renovation is a “gut” project where we take the room down to the studs. This allows us to address hidden issues like mold or outdated galvanized piping. However, many homeowners are currently opting for tub-to-shower conversions. These projects replace a high-walled bathtub with a sleek, low-threshold shower. It’s a popular choice for those in areas like Lincoln Park or Evanston who want a more modern, open feel in their smaller historic bathrooms.

Plumbing and Electrical Updates

The hidden systems behind your bathroom matter most. At Baethke Plumbing, we focus on kitchen and bathroom plumbing because even the nicest finishes will not last if the plumbing underneath has problems. Trusted bath remodeling companies near me should also coordinate electrical updates, so features like LED mirrors and heated floors are installed safely and up to Chicago code.

Custom Cabinetry, Flooring, and Lighting

Beyond the functional, there is the aesthetic. From real wood cabinetry (which holds up much better than MDF in humid environments) to water-resistant lifetime flooring, local pros help you select materials that stand the test of time. Lighting design has also become a major focus in 2026, with many projects incorporating layered lighting—ambient, task, and accent—to create that spa-like atmosphere.

Accessible and Aging-in-Place Solutions

One of the most rewarding aspects of our work is helping neighbors stay in the homes they love. Accessible remodeling isn’t just about “hospital-style” grab bars anymore; it’s about beautiful, safe, and functional design.

  • ADA Compliance: Ensuring toilets are at the right height and doorways are wide enough.
  • Walk-in Tubs and Low-Threshold Showers: Eliminating the “trip hazard” of a standard tub.
  • Slip-Resistant Flooring: Essential for preventing falls in wet areas.
  • Safety Features: We integrate grab bars that double as stylish towel racks and add built-in shower benches for comfort.

Whether you are working with a local expert in North Center or elsewhere in Chicagoland, the goal remains the same: safety without sacrificing style.

Understanding the Cost and Timeline of Your Project

“How much and how long?” are the two most common questions we get. In April 2026, costs are influenced by material availability and the complexity of the Chicago infrastructure.

Budget Factors

The cost of a remodel can vary wildly. A small powder room update might cost a few thousand dollars, while a luxury master suite renovation can exceed $50,000. Key factors include:

  1. Material Quality: Premium stone vs. acrylic liners.
  2. Labor Rates: Licensed professionals in the Chicagoland area command higher rates but provide significantly better security and quality.
  3. Structural Changes: Moving a toilet or a wall adds significant cost compared to a “pull and replace” project.

For a detailed breakdown of what to expect in our area, check out our guide on bathroom remodel cost in Chicago.

Timeline Expectations

The “one-day remodel” is a real thing, often involving acrylic overlays. However, a traditional full-scale remodel takes longer.

Remodel Type Typical Timeline Mess Level
1-Day Overlay 24 Hours Low
Tub-to-Shower Conversion 2–4 Days Moderate
Full Gut Renovation 2–3 Weeks High

For more details on why some projects take longer than others, see our article on how long bathroom remodeling takes.

Factors Influencing Bath Remodeling Companies Near Me Pricing

Beyond the obvious, remember to budget for Code Corrections. In older neighborhoods like Ravenswood or Old Town, opening a wall often reveals plumbing that isn’t up to modern standards. Permit fees and geographic location also play a role—working in a high-rise in River North involves different logistical costs (like elevator fees and parking) than a single-family home in Sauganash.

How to Choose the Right Contractor for Your Home

Choosing from the list of bath remodeling companies near me can feel overwhelming. You want someone who is more than just a guy with a truck; you need a partner.

Licensing and Reviews

In Illinois, and specifically Chicago, licensing is a legal requirement. Hiring an unlicensed contractor is a recipe for disaster—it can lead to poor quality work, code violations, and even issues with your home insurance if something goes wrong. Always verify a license through the Illinois Department of Public Health.

We recommend checking:

  • BBB Accreditation: Look for A+ ratings.
  • Online Reviews: Look for companies with thousands of reviews and high ratings (like a 4.8/5).
  • Local Portfolios: See if they have experience with homes similar to yours by reviewing their past project galleries and case studies.

For a deeper dive into the vetting process, read Who to Hire for Bathroom Remodel Chicago.

Insurance and Warranties

Does the company carry liability insurance? What about workers’ compensation? If someone is injured on your property and the contractor is not properly insured, you could face unnecessary risk. It is also smart to ask about warranty coverage, including whether any workmanship warranty can transfer to a new owner if you sell the home. Learn more about why Baethke Plumbing is the best choice for bathroom remodeling, with straightforward pricing and dependable results.

Preparing for Your Bath Remodeling Companies Near Me Consultation

Before the contractor arrives for a free estimate, have your vision ready.

  • Set a Budget: Know your “hard cap.”
  • Gather Inspiration: Use design websites or social media platforms to find styles and color palettes you love.
  • Ask About Permits: A reputable company will handle the permitting process for you.

Check out our Chicago Bathroom Remodeling Plumbing Tips Before You Start Your Project for a checklist of what to ask during your first meeting.

The Best Time of Year for a Bathroom Transformation

While many people think of home improvement as a summer activity, bathroom remodeling is actually a fantastic winter or early spring project.

  • Late Winter/Early Spring: Contractors often have more scheduling flexibility during these months. Since the work is indoors, the Chicago weather won’t delay the project (unless there’s a blizzard preventing the crew from reaching your house!).
  • Indoor Project Benefits: Unlike a roof or a deck, a bathroom remodel doesn’t depend on the sun. In fact, doing it in the winter means your home will be ready and beautiful by the time summer entertaining season rolls around.
  • Stay Ahead of Trends: Planning early in the year allows you to incorporate the latest styles. See what’s hot right now in Bathroom Remodeling Trends Chicago 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions about Bathroom Remodeling

Do I need special permits or insurance for a remodel?

Yes. Most bathroom projects in Chicago require a permit, especially if you are moving plumbing lines or doing electrical work. A professional Remodeling Plumber will know exactly what is needed for your specific neighborhood. Regarding insurance, you should notify your homeowners’ insurance provider about the renovation to ensure your coverage limits reflect the increased value of your home.

How can I prepare my home before the crew arrives?

Preparation is key to a stress-free experience:

  1. Clear the Space: Remove all towels, toiletries, and rugs.
  2. Tarping: While we use drop cloths, you may want to tarp nearby furniture to protect against dust.
  3. Water Shut-off: Know where your main water shut-off valve is located.
  4. Plan for “The Throne”: If you only have one bathroom, you’ll need to make arrangements for the days the toilet is out of commission.

Can I get a free design consultation for my project?

Absolutely. Most top-tier bath remodeling companies near me offer free in-home consultations. During this visit, a consultant will measure your space, discuss your style (from contemporary to traditional), and provide an estimate. Many top-tier professionals even offer virtual design tools to help you visualize the finished product before a single tile is removed.

Conclusion

Remodeling your bathroom is one of the most impactful changes you can make to your home in 2026. From increasing your property value to providing a safe, accessible space for your family, the benefits are endless. By choosing a local expert who understands the unique plumbing and architectural needs of Chicago—from the historic bungalows of Albany Park to the modern condos of River North—you ensure a project that is finished on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.

Isaac and Adam just inspected the drain line below our 100-year-old bungalow. They were very professional and took the time to explain the pipe's condition and the available repair options in language I could easily understand. Their willingness to answer questions gave me confidence in their recommendations. I was impressed and will ask for them again when it's time to repipe our house.
Response from the owner:Jason, thank you for the kind review. We’re glad Isaac and Adam could thoroughly inspect your drain line and clearly walk you through the pipe’s condition and repair options, especially in an older home like yours. It means a lot that their patience in answering questions helped you feel confident, and we’d be happy to send them again when you’re ready to repipe.

Great workmanship and friendly team, but expect to pay double and be billed for every single thing. I’m giving Baethke Plumbing 3 stars because while their technicians are genuinely kind, courteous, and do high-quality physical work, their billing practices are rigid to a fault. It’s no secret that Baethke is expensive. You can expect to pay roughly 2x what an average Chicago plumber charges. Honestly, I didn’t mind paying a premium upfront because the professionalism and craftsmanship are clearly there. In my case, I paid over $4,000 for the diagnosis and repair of a corroded copper pipe, and the invoice specifically noted that the line was water-tested afterward to confirm the leak was resolved. However, a week or two later, I still had water coming in and had to call them back out. It turned out there was another pinhole leak from corrosion just two feet further downstream on that exact same copper pipe. While I understand that their warranty only covers the specific section of pipe they replaced, they charged me an additional $800 just to diagnose and tell me that the exact same line still had a leak two feet away. When you pay over $4,000 to a top-tier company to diagnose and fix a leaking pipe, including a post-repair water test, you expect them to verify that the rest of that immediate run isn't actively leaking before wrapping up, rather than assuming the corrosion stopped right at the cut. More importantly, charging a customer $800 just to point out a missed pinhole two feet down the same pipe feels inappropriate given how much was already spent. Had the remaining leak been coming from a different source, I could understand but from the same pipe is a different story. Overall, Baethke is a good plumbing company with very nice people who do solid work. Just go in knowing that not only are their base rates exceptionally high, but they also bill strictly by the book for every step, even in follow-up situations where a little goodwill or common sense should apply.
Response from the owner:Mateo, thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for recognizing the professionalism and workmanship of our team. We understand your frustration with the additional diagnostic charge, particularly given the proximity of the second leak to the original repair. We appreciate you sharing your perspective on the situation, and your concerns regarding the follow-up visit and billing are important to us. We strive to provide quality service throughout every step of the process, and we appreciate you bringing this experience to our attention. I did review everything that Josh did and unfortunately, the untreated, Acidic Combustion Condensate that had been discharged for so long into that copper drain pipe has significantly thinned the pipe. It was 2 weeks later for that additional leak and we can't guarantee there won't be another unless all of the copper piping is replaced. That would be significant. If you would like to discuss this you are always welcome to call me either in the office at 773-276-5430, or on my cell at 773-447-4913. Thank you again.

Excellent service and skilled plumbing. Josh and his apprentice were outstanding. No shortcuts, precision in their work, accommodating. I was not looking forward to having work done due yo the cost of plumbing and the fear of shoddy work (past experience). This was the best plumbing experience I have ever had and it is worth every penny.
Response from the owner:Lisa, thank you for taking the time to share this. We’re glad Josh and his apprentice delivered careful, precise work and made the whole process feel straightforward and respectful. It means a lot to hear we helped ease your concerns and that the results felt worth the investment.

Baethke Plumbing was the right decision! John, who came out to do an inspection and a root clearing on my sewer main line, was on time, very friendly, and above all, honest. It’s tough out there as a homeowner and there are so many options to choose from. I’m glad I made the choice to go with Baethke because now I’ll never have to choose anyone else for my plumbing projects in the future. Thanks John, you da best!
Response from the owner:Carl, thank you for choosing Baethke Plumbing and for sharing this. We’re happy John arrived on time, treated you with respect, and gave you an honest inspection and root clearing on your sewer main line. We appreciate your trust and look forward to helping with any plumbing needs down the road.
