During these strange times, dealing with COVID-19, it often feels like the pandemic has affected so many aspects of our lives. This includes, strangely enough, the way we use water fountains.
While water fountains in commercial locations and public buildings are often well-cleaned, it’s difficult to control the number of germs and bacteria they’re continually exposed to. It’s even more challenging trying to prevent these germs from spreading.
When our Chicago plumbers at John Baethke & Son Plumbing found out that Gateway to Learning needed a new type of COVID-friendly water fountain, we jumped at the opportunity to lend a helping hand.
What is Gateway to Learning?
Gateway to Learning is a Chicago-based organization that provides special education courses and training opportunities to local residents with intellectual disabilities.
The types of skills learned at this facility can positively impact the lives of their students exponentially. They will be provided necessary training they can use at home, work, or within their local communities. These classes will help these individuals reach their full potential.
Installing a New Water Fountain with the Top Plumbers in Chicago
At John Baethke & Son Plumbing, we’re proud to be a Chicago plumbing company that works hard to help our community. In the instance of the Gateway to Learning facility, our Chicago plumbers understood the benefits this new water fountain would bring.
It wasn’t just a water fountain; after all, it was a way to keep their roster of students and employees safe from the harmful effects of COVID-19.
The work performed to install this new fountain first required removing the old unit. Once this was finished, our local plumbers discovered a need for additional piping work before the new water fountain could be installed.
Once the piping was upgraded and repaired, we installed a specially formatted water fountain that would better meet the students’ needs at Gateway to Learning.
It included a bottle filler system and was wheelchair accessible, so various students could comfortably use the unit.
