We recently scheduled a service call to address ongoing issues with the toilet in our hall bathroom, which (for reasons not entirely known) were seemingly unable to be resolved by other companies. Fortunately, we ultimately were referred to Baethke Plumbing by the manufacturer of said toilet… and voila we finally have a well-functioning, leak-free toilet (for the first time in a long time)! Thanks so much to Ron Page (who installed the replacement toilet tank) for all of his wonderful work, and to Perri, who was so helpful and promptly set up the appointment so that our bathroom is once again functional. A little over a month ago, I approached a Baethke truck parked on my block. Inside was Lou Vacari, service tech. I asked him about plumbing service and he was kind enough to supply me with a business card. I knew when I took the card, that this was the company I would turn to for my plumbing problem. Fast forward to today, Lou arrived on time and was as polite as he was when I approached his work truck weeks ago. He spent time explaining the possibilities and solutions. I certainly got the feeling I was in “good hands” with Lou. Not many servicemen have given me this level of confidence in their work. His repiping of the sink looks good. Lou left having given me an estimate for work we will have completed in the next month or so.

Billy was So, so helpful. Leaky water heater fixed and sump pump replaced-he gave honest, good options, got right to work, let me ask all about what was happening so I can proactively maintain my plumbing. Being able to call a plumber that knows his stuff, is highly personable and straightforward about the project and options helped me make a good, informed decision. He. gave recommendations for next steps. I would not hesitate to reach Baethke again for future work. Additionally, Cathy as dispatcher was courteous and helpful and kept me apprised about arrival. I needed someone to come out to clean my clogged toilet. Ron came with Mike and got the job done. This was the first time I met Ron and Mike. They got my toilet running in no time and I was certainly grateful for that especially since my son and grandson were visiting at the time. Most importantly, Josh Hall’s plumbing work is outstanding. But in addition, he will patiently answer as many questions as you have, and even more patiently explain why you need work that you may not think you need. If you don’t understand plumbing, as I did not, or really appreciate the problems that may be encountered when you request a difficult but necessary repair on an old house plumbing system, you may think Josh is overselling. But he is not. He is simply sharing his experience of similar jobs with you, and doing his best to help you avoid having to address predictable weaknesses in your system now instead of in a year or two. Once he got into our job, his predictions about likely related weaknesses in our system were shown to be accurate. My discussions and protests during our initial visit became thank-you’s and apologies once our walls were opened and we understood our plumbing system better and saw our problems behind those walls. If you can spend the money to do a very thorough fix, it will be money well spent. If you cannot, that is very understandable in this economy. But at least Josh will do his best to leave you with more knowledge than you had before about the state of your plumbing system and what issues and problems you may experience in the future. Getting something fixed is great. But learning something about your plumbing system that you didn’t know before is something that another plumber may not provide.

Kayleigh assisted Josh Hall on a complicated two-day job in our house. Her manner was upbeat and energetic. She is personable and enthusiastic. It was evident that Josh deemed her reliable and hard-working, because their interaction was consistently smooth and efficient. Her positive attitude made much more tolerable our major plumbing repair, which involved opening of walls and disruption of our kitchen. Kayleigh also did two great non-plumbing things that made enduring the disruption much more pleasant. The first was when she came across old newspaper pages, still intact, from the months 74 years ago when our house was being built. She did not toss them, but saved them and gave them to us. My wife and I loved this, and we also shared photos of these pages with our daughters, who really enjoyed seeing these relics. The second thing Kayleigh did was make a comment to my wife about the cabinets that needed removal to fix the pipes. We were going to toss them. Kayleigh said some things that caused us to rethink discarding the cabinets, which will probably save us both money and some dissatisfaction. Thanks Kayleigh! You will be a great plumber no doubt, but don’t leave behind your aesthetic sensibilities from your years in the film industry. I’m sure Josh would have shown us the newspapers and said the same things about the cabinets if we had asked. But you freed him up to do great plumbing and training, and you added not only plumbing value, but non-plumbing value too.

A significant amount of water was leaking from the bottom of my refrigerator. Yuriy investigated the integrity of the water line and confirmed that the water line to the fridge was not the source of the water leak. What I appreciated most was when Yuriy recommended and installed separate shut-offs for each of the water lines in the kitchen (hot, cold, dishwasher & ice-maker.) Finally, when I asked Yuriy if he would look at a leaky toilet, he agreed. While the toilet leak could not be repaired, his co-worker, Cornell was able to install a new toilet during the same visit… Excellent Customer Service! My overall experience with Baethke Plumbing was outstanding! I purchased a Baethke Advantage Plan… it includes an annual checkup/inspection of up to three toilets. drecommended and was able to in stall new individual water shut off valves for the sink’s hot and cold water, the dishwasher and the fridge. During the same visit, I asked if he could look at the leaky toilet in the master bath. He agreed and it was determined that I needed a new toilet. I purchased the Baethke Advantage Plan and I look forward my first annual check up!

Yuriy came out on June 10th to see why the bathroom faucet was running slow in my Mom’s apartment. After taking the faucet apart, the issue was found, and her faucet is now running much better. On May 22nd 2024 I had another positive experience with Baethke Plumbing, and service tech. Yuriy. This is the third time in the last three years I have needed their assistance. On each occasion I have been completely satisficed. The latest service request was to asses if I needed root out of my water pipes out to the city connection. This has become a more frequent occurrence. After completing an inspection of the pipe via camera Yuriy recommended, that a clean out was necessary due to significant root infestation. Along with his assistant Kayleigh they systematically and professionally used their machinery to remedy this problem . Additionally a follow-up appointment has been arranged to apply a treatment to slow the further growth of the tree roots. Yuriy and Kayleigh treated me like family . Thank You , Thomas Jones

I have using Baethke Plumbing for the past five years and have always gotten exceptional service from them. I have used them for both minor repairs (clogged sink which required a new drain system) and major problems including hydro jetting my sewer line, replacing my hot water tank, and replacing my laundry sink and some of the old galvanized pipes that were over 80 years old. Most recently the technician that serviced my house was George. He was a very nice man who actually brought treats for my dog. George was kind and most professional. He showed me what the problems were and explained in detail what my various options were. He did two major jobs for me in the past week and did excellent work on both. Things were totally cleaned up afterwards and looked better than before the work began. We’ve been using Baethke for at least ten years, first at our condo and now at our singly family home. There may be less expensive options out there, but it would be hard to find a team that’s more professional and easy to work with. We’ve discovered some “;creative” plumbing since moving into our new home, and the team (Ron, Lou, and others) have always explained in detail why we’re experiencing issues and given us several options for solutions. Some things can’t be fixed without a full remodel, but the team has always figured out a way to give us some peace of mind in the meantime. Yuriy, was certainly the technician for this job. He assessed everything before starting, by discussing the problems with me. I had no hot water and very little watet pressure.Yuriy immediately thought the filter needed to be cleaned, since the building water supply had been shut off numerous times for plumbing repairs. I explained I had 3 previous companies look at my electric tankless water heater, with no solutions. One of the suggestions was to have an electrician try to solve the problem. Yuriy cleaned the filter, suggested it be done at least once a year. I now have hot water and normal water pressure. I will definitely call John Baethke & Son for a couple of future projects and thank you Yuriy!

We had Baethke Plumbing come out to provide an estimate on a whirlpool tub w/ non-functioning jets. Ron & Chazz arrived at the scheduled time. They quickly diagnosed the problem and made the necessary repairs. They tested the tub afterwards to confirm it was in proper working order. Ron & Chazz we’re done in less than an hour. Hello, The Plumber was professional, knowledgeable and very thorough. The pump was not draining and once the problem was diagnosed he provided several options to fix it.. When the work was completed he tested the pump to make sure it worked as intended. And he cleaned up the work area. Overall, things could not have gone better.

We had John Baethke do some major work on our condo building and the didan excellent job so I had no reservations to call on them to do work in our unit. Issac came out to do a full inspection of our plumbing and he found several issues that I suspected were on the verge of failure along with some smaller issues we had wanted to have resolved for quite some time. His work was meticulous, he explained what he was doing every step of the way and was ready and willing to answer any question I had, regardless on how basic. This gave me great confidence in the work he was doing. In the end I have already referred JB to several unit owners and I am VERY cautious in referring folks because it’s my reputation on the line. I have no qualms about referring JB and specifically Issac!

Baethke’s team came through once again. I needed a replacement faucet, plus a new sink basin. The tricky part is that I wanted to find something that wouldn’t involve ripping out the whole vanity/countertop in the process. Yuriy came to measure & brainstorm, and helped with a tricky color-matching. I found a sunken vessel-style basin that I hoped would fit the previously-custom under mount hole, and it worked! The installation team did a fantastic job, and it looks great!! Three cheers for replacing only what *needed* to be replaced. I appreciate Baethke’s willingness to think creatively with me in order to minimize wasteful over-replacement. Everyone was timely, courteous, flexible, and creative, and the result is perfect!

Really terrific experience which I’ve been able to count on with baethke plumbing. Ron came to my home to do an annual top to bottom check on my systems. I had work in mind, which was to make changes to my sump pump discharge to bring it up to code and consider installing an undersink water filter. Ron was knowledgeable and gave great advice, and provided a better solution for the sump pump discharge (that did not require digging up my backyard!). I opted for my sump pump reroute, a minor adjustment for a bath fixture, and requested a video assessment of my residential discharge pipe – to update a video inspection performed in 2020. After we booked the work, I called the office staff to ask if I could add the water filtration system- because having filtered water available at my kitchen sink would make me happy. No trouble, added that back to my work order. The team that showed up today was great. Video led to some cleanout work, completed today, which left me with confidence about drainage for the whole house. And I decided that having hot and cold filtered water at my sink would make me even happier, so

Christopher is a great and very attentive plumber. Since the fee was about $350 per hour I can only hope Christopher’s salary is 20% of that.

Christopher came out today to figure out why my kitchen sink would overflow when I wasn’t even using water. He checked the catch basin and brought me out to show me why that wasn’t the issue. Then he sketched out a diagram to explain where the clog likely exists and why the sink overflows randomly (from my perspective). Very friendly and helpful.

I’ve hired Baethke for both personal projects and for our condo association. Every crew they’ve sent has been so friendly and professional, and they take the time to explain what they’re doing and why. I completely trust their recommendations and know the work will be expert level.

Do to a drip from our new bathtub faucet we needed to have Baethke revisit our home! I noticed our ceiling in the basement had a water stain. We thought it was an older condensation leakk, but it had grown considerably in size since the last few times I checked. I called and was able to get emergency service. Ron was respectful, knowledgeable and thorough. He performed a difficult repair – cleaning up a low quality installation by a previous plumber. I wanted to thank your company concerning our basement plumbing problem involving our main stack. Since our initial consultation with technician Yuriy Striltschuk , and subsequent appointments to rectify that problem, and other potential problems relative to water drainage from our home to the city drainage system, we have been served well. We had invested considerable money previously this summer having interior work in the basement concerning a sump pump system , and interior drainage tiling installed to prevent hydro water seeping up from the concrete floor. Yuiry assessment relative to the basement led additional inspection of the water system septic system, and piping leading from house to the city sewer line. Inspection revealed partial blockage of the water line out to the street. Appointments arranged, and work completed addressing these problems. We are thankful to Yuiry for all his work and professionalism..

Cristian and Isak were fantastic to work with. We had a slow water leak from our hot water heater (unbeknownst to us) and they were able to quickly identify the source of the water in our tile/carpet. I’ve used Baethke and Son several times and do not hesitate to recommend. Yesterday I used Cormac to address a dripping faucet that two other people could not fix. We wound up replacing multiple faucet fixtures and drain pipes below, which had corroded over the past 12 years. Cormac was a good communicator, very polite, explained all the options (with prices), and worked diligently for several hours. He cleaned up any mess, and even cleaned up the area below the sink where the corrosion had caused debris. Even though I phoned in a request to just address one thing (the drip), he stayed the better part of the day without complaint when I decided it would be better to upgrade all the old fixtures. The company had several different fixtures to choose from on the truck, which made it easy to start. Cormac needed some parts delivered here to complete the job, but that did not delay the work.

Last July they came in to repair a cracked pipe in my basement, it took over 12 hours to repair my technician keep me informed called in back up even though I told them they could stop they refused until the repairs was made, they were professional working in the heat I was so embarrassed after they should me the tape of the crack and blocking I will never be able to thank them enough!

When it comes to solving complex plumbing issues, there is one call I make first and that is always to Baethke and Son, without exception. Not only have they helped me personally in my home with a couple of issues, but also professionally as a home inspector. I can’t comment on many of the reviews posted here as I’ve no knowledge of the circumstances; what I do know is that you are paying for a process and level of education that comes with understanding how to solve problems. John, the owner, is as knowledgeable a plumber as you will ever find on top of the fact that he has a deep background in HVAC–a nice bonus. I’ve never received any negative feedback from any of our clients that have used their services in over three years. Not one. Can you find someone cheaper, of course you can…it’s a competitive marketplace for plumbers and you often get what you pay for. Pure and simple.

We wouldn’t use any other plumbing company for work in our home PERIOD! We realize that they’re not the cheapest out there, but they’re the BEST. We just had them out for the third time for work done, and upfront we knew exactly what we’d be paying them, no matter what came up. We’ve used other plumbers in the past that charge by the hour and took their sweet time to replace faucets, etc. We had 3 toilets replaced in our home today. When they were previously replaced (not by Baethke & Son’s) the collars were not installed improperly. John’s technician (Patrick) could have simply installed the new toilets over the existing collars, but instead let us know and replaced those. Most contractors wouldn’t have even brought it up. John’s crew is the most knowledgeable and professional that I’ve ever worked with across all trades.

We just finished renovating all three bathrooms in our home at the same time and having John & his crew work on all of the plumbing was the best decision we made. John Baethke & Son Plumbing has done extensive work for my retail showroom, including replacing major pipes from my roof and hooking my drainage system into the City’s line. This was a crucial project that had to be done while my retail flooring showroom (Home Carpet One) stayed open. John was on the job site himself and both he and his workers couldn’t have been more accommodating. Every time they left or walked into my showroom they cleaned the floor behind them. They finished the job on time and within budget. They were excellent in every way. Since them I have used them for more minor work on our bathrooms and the service has been at that same high level. I trust John and the work his company does.

Called to have a new hot water tank installed. Plumber arrived early and gave a thorough explanation of the type and brand to be installed. He was very efficient and labeled each shut off valve for both the condo unit and actual tank. Price was reasonable and also put in a overflow drip pan beneath unit as extra precaution per our request. Getting appointment was fast and easy. Would use them again for future plumbing needs

John Baethke & Son Plumbing is a wonderful company. They arrived when they said they would. They called before they arrived. Josh was friendly and very professional. I had 3 problems that I wanted him to look at. He gave me several options of what he could do and clearly explained what each would cost. He finished the job quickly and cleaned up before he left. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

I cannot say enough good things about Baethke & Son Plumbing. This is the fourth time the company has been to our home and their service (as always) is incredible and the plumbers always knowledgeable and polite. Josh did a great job of fixing several problems in the house and he did it right. Yes, Baethke may be more expensive than other plumbing companies but they always do the excellent work. I would rather spend the money upfront than have to correct recent work and deal with unnecessary future problems due to cheaper work and materials that cuts corners.

Very professional, clean, and courteous. We had some plumbing issues with our newly constructed single family home in Lincoln Park, and John Baethke Plumbing resolved the issues! They inspected, researched, and explained everything before starting, and scheduling was very efficient. They showed up early each time they came out, and the cost of the work was exactly what they said it would be. They even cleaned up well as they were finished. Someone always responds to your call – no matter when – within less than 15 minutes during after hours and wknds/nights. The team is incredible and will do whatever it takes – especially during emergency situations – to resolve your various plumbing related problems. A committed team of people who take pride in their work and value being part of a hard working family business.

My neighbor had issues with two plumbers until she finally called John Baethke. Since she had good luck with them, they were my first call when I needed service. It was quick and easy to get someone out to fix the bathtub piping that I ruined trying to put on a new faucet. Cormac was very professional and explained all the options and costs. He was able to work his magic to make the less expensive option work.

We discovered late in the evening that our water heater had stopped working, and after trying the minimal troubleshooting steps we could find online, we gave up and decided to call a professional. Baethke has a 24 hour answering service, so we were able to schedule an appointment for the very next morning. If needed, we could have had someone come out right that moment. The next morning Cormac was very prompt and professional, and after checking out our heater outlined our options clearly for us. We decided to go with the new heater and he installed it right then. Great experience!

The most professional, clean, and friendly plumbing service I have used to date. I don’t suspect they are the cheapest service around, but I have no problem paying for quality. I have used cheap plumbing services before and its definitely not an area to skimp. The plumber, Tom, connected our HVAC humidifier to a hot water supply. He explained his work very well and left the work area clean. Highly recommended. I will definitely be giving these guys a call next time I need some plumbing work done.

Tom and John did a great job with our catch basin bypass plumbing. They added two floor drains, repiped our laundry drainage lines, and even took a look at some issues in our basement bathroom while they waited for the city inspector to arrive. They were professional (pulled permits & passed city inspection), kind to my young kids, cleaned up well after the job was done, and offered some tips for the bathroom issue at no extra charge. As others have said, I really appreciate receiving pictures of the technicians ahead of time to know who to look for, as well as the reminder calls. Not only are they good plumbers, they have some good admin workers, too! It boosts my confidence that they are keeping up with the times to see them using 21st century technology in their business. 🙂 Thanks!!

Cormac is the best. Knowledgeable and kind, he fixed our triangle tube tankless water heater when other repairmen ran in the other direction. The Baethke office is very organized as well.
